We had a great time taking classes with Mariana and Pablo in August and September 2006. While I enjoyed learning about history, literature and politics from Mariana, my husband Øivind and Pablo used music as a reference in their classes. We both appreciated the knowledge Mariana and Pablo represent, and the laid back way they make people learn Spanish. It was an effective way to learn and practice Spanish, and it was a memorable meeting with people we came to like a lot. For us - it was perfect! We recommend them to anyone looking for a Spanish class in Buenos Aires. We hope to be back some day.

I spent two weeks studying spanish in Buenos Aires and was absolutely thrilled with my lessons at Ayres de Espanol. I had spent a number of days researching which place to study in and tried a number of different places which were more expensive in ugly areas and with big group classes were you barely had any time to converse. The things I loved about Ayres de Espanol where: The teachers are of high quality- I had most of my lessons with Mariana and learnt so much. The location of the school is by far the best in Buenos Aires- right in the heart of palermo, so that in the breaks you can sit in a cafe and do your homework over a coffee and medialuna! And the prices were extremely easonable. I would recommend this school without hesitation!

I took a very intense one-to-one course with Mariana last June/july.
I am Italian, so I have to admit that it is quite easy for me to understand Spanish. It is more difficult to speak and to write. Thus, I prefer to write in English, since my level of written spanish is still  poor.
What I liked most is that during the lessons, with the "excuse" to speak spanish, we went through some very interesting stories regarding the Argentinian history, culture, population, problems/opportunities, differences etc etc.
These conversation have helped me a lot to improve my comprehension of the complexities of Argentina (which is very coplex...probably as much as Italy!).
Now I am back to Milano. Unfortunately I do not have so much time to practice, but have the pleasure to read some books of Sabato and Dolina, for example.

I keep a very good memory of my time spent in Palermo and at the school and if/when I come back I will surely come over and visit you.

Pienso que la escuela estaba muy útil para mi castellano- he estudiado español en España pero he olvidado mucho! pues siendo en BA- estaba la oportunidad perfecta para aumentar mi castellano- Aprendí mucho- nuevas palabras- un nuevo acento- caí en amor con BA- la lengua- la cultura y Mariana me enseñó mucho de la ciudad- el país- los porteños!.

I was very happy with the private classes I took with Mariana in 2006.

The quality of the teaching is extremely good, it's custom-designed for

whatever level you are, and whatever your focus or needs or interests

may be, within learning Spanish and also learning about the

Spanish-speaking world. I also really liked the house we were in, and its location

in the middle of the peacful and quiet but yet trendy Palermo. Highly

I came to Buenos Aires as a backpacker and decided to stay longer, 5 months longer. While in Buenos Aires, I tried classes with 4 different instructors but couldn't find anyone that I thought was a good fit. Later, a friend recommended the Ayres de Español Spanish Center. After taking one class at the Center, I realized I had finally found a great place, and have stayed with them since. I found my instructor to be very good at molding the content of each class to my personal needs.

Hello!

I am Kimmo, a 29-year old industrial designer from Helsinki, Finland. I was attending an exchange program in Universidad de Buenos Aires the first semester of 2003. Before going to Argentina I had been studying in Chile so I was doing pretty well with spanish. I still wanted to improve my skills with a private teacher. The language courses of UBA were not of that high level, anyway.

I found the number of Mariana from one travel agency and called up the institute. The teaching schedule and locations could be agreed pretty flexibly. I took the course with a friend of mine, which made the teaching really inexpensive. We got a lot of printed material on every class, as well as a good amount of homework. Studying with a private teacher was very effective and even a bit challenging. A private class was like a sports activity! I recommend Mariana's classes if you want to learn Spanish effectively. In general Argentina as well as its capital city are absolutely splendid places to be. Hope to get there again soon!

Olen Kimmo, 29 vuotias teollinen muotoilija Helsingistä. Olin vaihto-opiskelijana Universidad de Buenos Airesissa vuoden 2003 ensimmäisen lukukauden. Ennen Argentiinaan menoa olin ollut
opiskelijavaihdossa Chilessä, joten espanja oli jo melko hyvin hallussa. Halusin kuitenkin parantaa kielitaitoani yksityisopettajan kanssa. UBAn kielikurssit olivat maksullisia ja heikkotasoisia.

Löysin Marianan puhelinnumeron matkatoimiston seinältä ja soitin instituuttiin. Opetusajat ja paikat järjestyivät hyvin joustavasti. Kävimme tunneilla suomalaisen kaverini kanssa, jolloin opetuksen hinta oli varsin kohtuullinen. Tunneilta tuli kiitettävästi materiaalia ja kotitehtäviä, joita sitten käsiteltiin seuraavalla kerralla. Opiskelu yksityisopettajan kanssa oli erittäin tehokasta, mutta myös vaativaa.Tuntia voi verrata melkeinpä urheilusuoritukseen. Suosittelen Marianan tunteja jos haluat kehittää espanjantaitoasi tehokkaasti. Muutenkin Argentiina ja sen pääkaupunki ovat aivan loistavia paikkoja, menen takaisin heti kun pääsen.

Im Herbst 2003 war ich in Buenos Aires, um mein Spanisch zu verbessern. Durch einen Aushang habe ich Marianas Nummer entdeckt und wir haben sofort Termine vereinbart. Der Unterricht bei ihr hat mir so gut gefallen, dass ich alle meine Bekannten auch zu ihr geschickt habe. Mariana konnte mir immer flexibel Termine anbieten, es war eine angenehme Lernatmosphäre und der Unterricht - bei dem sie sehr auf meine individuellen Schwächen und Wünsche eingegangen ist - hat mir viel gebracht. Obwohl ich vor den Unterrichtswochen bei Mariana noch nicht gut Spanisch sprechen konnte, bin ich bei der Aufnahmeprüfung an der Universität von Buenos Aires dann auch direkt in die höchste Stufe gekommen. Der Unterricht bei ihr hat es mir ermöglicht gezielt an meinen Schwachpunkten zu arbeiten und war so eine definitiv effektivere kompetentere und preiswertere Alternative zum Angebot von Sprachschulen in Buenos Aires.

In Autumn 2003 I traveled to Argentina to improve my Spanish and to do an internship in Buenos Aires. I started taking classes at language schools, which I found to be totally overpriced and which didn’t help me much because the groups were changing all the time and too big. Anyways, I discovered Marianas number on some pin board, called her and we immediately started with classes. She created a good atmosphere for studying, paid attention to my individual weaknesses with the language and I was able to improve my Spanish a lot over the next couple of weeks. Although I had an advanced beginner level when starting the lessons, I was accepted for the highest level class at the University of Buenos Aires when I took the test beginning of 2004. Moreover, several of my friends that I gave Mariana’s number started classes with her as well and were also very happy with her style of teaching. All in all, I can say that the private lessons with Mariana were the more competent, more effective and cheaper alternative to the classes at Buenos Aires language schools for foreigners.
